Steven Jagoda began creating a colorful odyssey of abstracts in 1984. Jagoda studied at St. Martins College of Art in London, England; graduated with a BFA in Painting from Syracuse University, School of Visual Arts. Recipient of the Ford Foundation Grant for painting, he has had exhibitions throughout New York City and the nation. Now a Louisvillian, he is treating us to his world.
While painting my goal is to create an elegant and experiential course for the viewer. Through the methods of forcing color and texture, I hope to trap both the viewer and moment inside a detailed web of deconstructed mark making.
My collective work is the record of my journey spent observing the world and human nature. The paintings are representative of my pondering the things which make us create, capturing the richness of life’s moments, and passionately conveying more obscure moments.
My desire is to bring the viewer along with me as I re-live these moments in my work. I hope to impart to them the inspirations which are the essence of my continual drive to create the next piece of work.
